A Look Back at Timanfaya National Park

On our last visit to Lanzarote, we explored Timanfaya National Park, an otherworldly landscape of lava fields and volcanoes that feels like stepping onto another planet! Situated on the island’s west coast, this 5,000-hectare park is a must-see. We previously did this tour with P&O, and the 4-5 hour excursion took us through breathtaking volcanic terrain – a truly unforgettable experience!

Sweet Treats & Coffee on Marella Explorer

Before heading out, we made a stop at The Coffee Port on Deck 6. This cosy café serves up barista-made coffee, cakes, and chocolates – the perfect spot for anyone with a sweet tooth! While drinks here come at an extra charge, some coffees are included in the Premium Drinks Package. Well worth it for a little caffeine fix before a day of exploring!

Exploring Arrecife & Castillo de San Gabriel

We took a scenic walk through Arrecife’s charming marina, soaking in the relaxed island vibes. One of the highlights was our visit to Castillo de San Gabriel, a 16th-century fortress that once defended the city from pirate attacks! Entry is free (though donations are welcome), and while the exhibits are in Spanish, the stunning views from the top make it well worth a visit.

A Feast at Kora La – The Pan-Asian restaurant on Marella Explorer

In the evening, we treated ourselves to a speciality dining experience at Kora La, Marella Cruises’ Pan-Asian restaurant. For £32 per person, we enjoyed an incredible meal – though we may have overindulged just a little! Let’s just say, a three-hour nap was definitely needed afterwards! 😴

Relaxation in the Thermal Suite

After a busy day exploring, we took full advantage of our Thermal Suite Pass, which gave us unlimited access throughout the cruise. From steam rooms to heated loungers, it was the perfect way to unwind before another exciting day ahead.
