Pacific Princess may be the smallest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet but she has a huge following and we were lucky enough to have a tour of her while in our hometown of Milford Haven. If you are after something a little bigger, check out our Royal Princess tour here.

A little about this great ship

At 30,277 gross tons, and a length of 180m with a passenger capacity of 688 and a total crew of 373, Pacific Princess is the smallest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet.  Launched in 1999 and built at St Nazaire, France she was originally named R3 and built for Renaissance Cruises.  She was transferred to Princess in 2002 and has since operated at Pacific Princess and underwent a refit in 2017.

The ship is nearly always sailing at capacity, and has proven to be very popular.  If you are looking to cruise on Pacific princess, you will need to book early.

Unfortunately, we were unable to see any state rooms, but the ship has the following:

22 Inside rooms

56 Ocean view

9 Obstructed view

15 Porthole view

5 accessible rooms

Initial impressions

As we tendered towards the ship, we were welcomed on board and started our tour in the lobby area.

On our way, we were advised by Nadine who was showing us around that the lobby area is very different to other Princess ships.  Entering on the lowest level, we were wowed.  This was some grand, golden expanse, but instead a small but elegant area – it was absolutely beautiful.

The lobby area has the Guest Services / Reception, Shore Excursions, future cruises desk and the shops of Princess.

 

Bars

There are a number of areas where you can sit back and relax with a coffee or cocktail.  With 6 bars, you have ample choice.

Club Bar – Ideal for a pre-dinner drink, situated next to the Club Restaurant.

Casino Bar – Try your luck a the casino, an ideal place to celebrate your win (or forget the loss!)

Cabaret Lounge Bar – The main entertainment venue.

Pool Bar – Sit back and soak up the sun with a cocktail in hand around the pool

Panorama Bar – Located the the Panorama Buffed area

Pacific Lounge Bar – This would be our favourite bar, located at deck 10 forward, the ideal location to have a drink and look out to sea.

Main Dining Room

The main dining room is the Club Restaurant.  Open for Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and dinner (2 seating), it is located on Deck 5 Aft.

Bright and open, this restaurant only has set dining with a first seating at 5.30 and a second at 7.45.

 

Sports and Fitness

We were expecting these to be extremely small, but we were impressed.  An impressive salon and a comprehensive gym.  There were also treatment rooms and a mini sanctuary area at the forward end with a large hot tub and some very comfortable seating.

Pool Areas

As mentioned, there is a hot tub in the Spa area, but midship you will find a pool with and additional 2 hot tubs.  This is also where you will find the pool bar and BBQ.  On the deck above you will find the jogging track, being quite small you will need to do several laps to work off all the lovely food.

 

 

 

Specialty dining

The Steakhouse is a premium Seafood and Chop house – the best place to come for a steak or if you fancy Italian, head to Sabatinies.  Both are on deck 10 and have a cover charge of $29.  

 

Library

We can’t not mention the library as its absolutely beautiful, wood paneling and amazing ceiling.  This is just Wow!
