About Andalsnes
Andalsnes is a town popular with cruise lines. It is located along the Isfjorden, at the mouth of the Rauma River, at the north end of the Romsdalen valley.
It has many attractions such as Hiking, the Rauma Railway and Trollstigen
Our day in Andalsnes
As you will see in our video above, we were up early so we could watch the spectacular view as we sailed in. Today we had decided to hike to the Rampestreken view point, somewhere we went when on our honeymoon cruise.
The climb up to Rampestreken is classed as a moderate hike however the last part is quite challenging. Even at the early stages you are rewarded with some great views, but if you push on to the top it’s definitely worth it. If you plan to do this hike, allow a minimum of 2 to 3 hours.
The Rampestreken lookout is 537 meters above sea level, as you walk further out on the platform you’ll will be rewarded with a jaw dropping view of Åndalsnes below.
Having come this far, we decided to push on and make our way to the top of Nesaksla. It’s a further 20 minutes of hiking and a bit more challenging, but at 708 meters above sea level the views are utterly breath-taking!
The way back down was just as challenging as the way up and with more visitors now on the trail, we were glad we came early.
As you will see from our video, it was a gorgeous day in Andalsnes! Next time we visit we will give the Ruma Railway a go.
