Welcome to our Reykjavik – Golden Circle Tour post!  This covers everything we did on day 1 of our P&O Arcadia cruise to Norway, Iceland and Ireland.

About Reykjavik :

Iceland’s capital and largest city, Reykjavik is located on the south western coast and is a popular destination with all types of travellers.  You can visit the city itself or do what we did and book an excursion.  On our first day we booked the Golden Circle tour – this was booked interdependently with https://www.igtours.is/

Golden Circle Tour:

This full day excursion was due to start 30 minutes after the ship docked, so an early breakfast was in order!

Our first stop was the Faxi waterfall, a popular area for fishing due to the amount of salmon that can be found here – just out of shot there is also a salmon ladder!

Our next stop, was the Gullfoss Waterfall, or Golden Waterfall. This powerful 32 meter waterfall and very popular with tourists. It is absolutely amazing! Leaving Gullfoss, we head to Haukadalur Geothermal valley. Here you can witness the amazing Strokkur geyser.

Our final stop on our Golden Circle tour is the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Hopefully this has given you a insight to our first day in Reykjavik and what we got up to on the Golden Circle tour – a must do tour if visiting.
