In this post we’ll concentrate on the P&O Ultimate Drinks Package.

We covered the differences between the drinks packages before here, where we explain the differences between the P&O Ultimate Drinks Package (Alcoholic drinks package), the Non- Alcoholic Drink Package and the Children’s Drinks Package. P&O Ultimate Drinks Package Explained

In this section we are going to briefly cover what is included and excluded in the package and the rules you should be aware of. The P&O Ultimate Drinks package is £39.95 per person per day.  All adults in the cabin need to purchase it.  You can use onboard credit to purchase it if you purchase onboard. If you have loyalty discount, this also applies to the package (after any OBC has been used).

What’s Included

• Unlimited draught soft drinks, mocktails and 500ml bottles of water.
• Primo Costa coffees, teas and hot chocolates.
• Beers, cocktails, single-measure spirits and wines by the glass up to £6.95.
• Children’s drinks package
• PLUS 20% discount on drinks above £6.95, bottles of wine, large bottles of water, canned and bottled soft drinks, juices and smoothies for when you want to push the boat out.

What’s Excluded

• Any drink over £6.95 as listed on the menus
• Bottles of wine, spirits, or any items from on-board shops
• Large bottles of water (750ml & 1.5L), canned and bottled premium soft drinks, juices and smoothies
• Drinks from room service, mini-bar, self-service or vending machines
• Any drinks featured in other programmes or promotions
• Double measures of spirits

Important Info

• Each adult assigned to the same cabin must purchase the drinks package. Sharing of packages is not permitted
• Only available on cruises of five nights or more and must be purchased for every day of the cruise
• Strictly non-refundable or transferable once purchased on board
• Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6am to 6am)
• Only one drink at a time may be ordered (minimum 15-minute wait between orders)
• You must be over 18 (21 in USA and UAE waters)
• All bottles and cans will be served opened

P&O Drinks Prices & Break Even

So now that you know more about the Ultimate Drinks Package, we wanted to show you what the drinks prices start at. This can be bit of a drinks calculator so that you can work out if the drinks package is for you! as we have also calculated how many of those drinks you need to drink to break even. Remember, that is just that drink type, so if you had 6 cocktails a day AND soft drinks, you would be well over!

Calculating if it is worth it for us

While onboard P&O Arvia, we wanted to check if the drinks package represented good value for us.  We’re happy with all the drinks included, so purchased the drinks package on arrival.  From that point on we made a note of everything we purchased on the package.  The two images below are from the day we used the package the least and the day we used the package the most (and this is where our daily spend tended to be nearer).  As you can see, for us the package was well worth it. 

Our Top Tip

We hope this article has been useful and helped you decide if the drinks package is for you! If you are still unsure, we have one top tip! As you have 24 hours to purchase the package from boarding, spend the first evening looking at the menus to work out if the package if the package is indeed good value for you. If it isn’t, you can pay as you go but if it is, make sure you purchase it asap! If you purchase on day 2, you will save £39.95pp as you only purchase for the remaining days.
